Glasgow School of Art: mourning "The Mack"

Glasgow School of Art. Photo: A. Marsh
SALCTG commiserates with friends and colleagues at Glasgow School of Art after last week's disastrous fire in which, amongst other things, the iconic Mackintosh Library was lost. A recovery operation continues and a fund has been set up for anyone wishing to help - details are on the GSA site.

According to the @GSALibrary Twitter feed, a reminiscence book will soon be started for the Mack Library, and this will eventually be lodged in the GSA archives. In the meantime, memories can be shared on the hashtag #MackLibMemories.

Introducing Magda - our CILIPS 14 winner

Magda Wojnar
A few weeks ago, SALCTG announced that it would be sponsoring a place at the CILIPS Annual Conference in June. Applications were invited from chartership candidates and new professionals in member institutions, and we are now pleased to announce that we have a winner.

Magda Wojnar currently has no less than three part-time jobs - as a library assistant at both Queen Margaret and Heriot Watt Universities and as School Library Learning Centre Co-ordinator at St Thomas of Aquin's High School in Edinburgh. She is looking forward to meeting "experts from various backgrounds......people who can inspire me and encourage me to continue my professional development". We are looking forward to reading all about it - in return for her sponsorship, Magda will be writing an article for this blog about her experiences at the conference.

Warmest congratulations to Magda, and commiserations to the other candidates whose submissions were all of a high standard.
